Results – English Boat Championship Falmouth 2026

Anglers fishing the competition arrived at the HQ, Falmouth Rugby Club on Friday 3rd July to register. This gave them a chance to catch up with old friends and have a drink which was needed in the heatwave that was upon us.

Saturday Day 1
Anglers arrived at the Premier Marina in Falmouth to load the six boats at 7.45. To facilitate a quicker load the boat and position draw had been done previously. To ensure fair play anglers had been able to watch the draw on Zoom if they wanted to.

The boats set off with all boats stopping to catch fresh bait before starting the seven hour match. Most boats found a few mackerel and sandeel for bait.

Fishing was conducted on a variety of marks drifting rough ground, reefs or wrecks or at anchor on rough ground or near reefs. The weather was hot and sunny with a breeze getting up later in the day. A good selection of fish were caught including wrasse, pollack, pout, dogfish, red bream, bull huss and conger and some large whiting.

At the end of day 1 the six anglers with boat wins and 100% were Steve Batchelor 111 points, Andy Selby 110 points, Gary Dennis 102points, Rolf Marschalek 94 points, George Bell 94 points, and Paul Milkins 82 points.

Sunday Day 2
The boats were loaded again at 7.45. Although still very warm it was overcast with some weather forecast predicting rain. Wrong, the sun was again beating down by the afternoon.

Fishing was similar to Saturday with mixed bags of fish caught by the anglers.

The results were very close with two anglers having boat wins on both days for 200%. It was Rolf Marschalek that came out on top following count back on points with 223 points to Andy Selby’s 218 points. Steve Batchelor was third with 199.07%
