Flounder Fun Competition. 16th January 2011
The catch reports for the last few weeks did little to enthuse our merry band of flounder fishers, the melt water had spooked those elusive flattie’s & sent them to the deep’s. Even there they were chased by the netters looking for some pot bait, then Paul Daniels came along and they all disappeared! (well nearly)
The mighty Quinn produced two fine specimens using a homemade float (I’m not sure it’s worth patent protection on the design though)
Bobby King seems to have found his old form, I think his record is now 13/2, that said even the King of the flattie’s floundered this time our Paul Rivers failed to find a fish this year and had to hand his crown to a very worthy winner Mr Andy Smith, who closely followed by Rob Quinn, both anglers managed to land two each. I would love to see Andy’s flounder rig, he is after all, well known for his Christmas tree rigs.
Richard Russell used his psychic powers to guess the heaviest fish and win the pools, some guess as well only 1/8 oz off the correct weight. I’m not quite sure if he only wins competitions when there’s a pin involved! Looking at his blazer I might be right.
At least we managed to miss the worst of the rain and there’s always next year, bet bobby has said that more than a few times!
