Swedish Lupus Summer Cod Festival
Hot off the press and just back from Sweden we have our new Zero to Hero, our very own Mr Neil Cottington, who took a magnificent 5th place from a field of 106 anglers.
Neil fished really well beating many established Swedish pirk specialists with a nice 8.5kg fish amongst his haul, last year he blanked both days (and don’t I know how that feels).
I must also mention Charlotte Selby who came 2nd in the Ladies Class beating some very good Ladies. (luckily someone in the Selby household can fish).
Also in the prize table was Stu Pennock who was part of the team that came second in the 3 man drawn team.
We had a party of 8 anglers with two Irish anglers joining us, Paul Tully and Chris Paddy Pucher, both these anglers had a claim to fame and were the only ones to blank over the two days, at the prize giving they were given a choice of a kiddies rod and reel to wind in and on Paul’s was a bottle of Malt whiskey and Chris had a free entry ticket to next year’s event!
The event was well run once again with a fantastic buffet presentation, on the fishing side some of the boats struggled apart from Thomas on Vandia who found good number of fish for all the anglers, apart from one!!!!!!
Just some information for anglers that fish these events; there is serious talk about banning Cod fishing when the fish are in roe, this leaves a gap between July and September which will seriously impact fishing in the Scandinavian countries.
